Na(Ce,La,Ca,Na,Sr)(CO
Remondite-(Ce), a member of the burbankite group, is rare at MSH. Many of the specimens designated in the past as burbankite are in fact remondite-(Ce).
PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS:
Color is usually pink to orange, brilliant orange or red.
Luster is vitreous.
Diaphaneity is transparent.
Crystal System is monoclinic;
Crystal Habits include hexagonal prismatic crystals.
Cleavage is imperfect.
Fracture is conchoidal.
Hardness is 3 – 3.5
Specific Gravity is approximately 3.4 g/cm
Streak is white.
Associated Minerals include albite, analcime, barite, dawsonite,
donnayite, ilmenite and wöhlerite.
Distinguishing Features: Crystal habit.
Origin: Named in 1988 after Guy Remond, French mineral physicist.
