Rasvumite is extremely rare at MSH.
PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS:
Color is usually dark brown to black.
Luster is dull to vitreous.
Diaphaneity is translucent to opaque.
Crystal System is orthorhombic; Cmcm
Crystal Habits include massive crusts coating other minerals.
Cleavage {110} is perfect.
Fracture is (??).
Hardness is 4.5
Specific Gravity is approximately 3.1 g/cm
Streak is black.
Associated Minerals include sidorenkite, sodalite, ussingite and
villiaumite.
Distinguishing Features: Crystal habit.
Origin: Named in 1970 after its discovery locality near Mount
Rasvumchorr, Russia.
