La béryllonite est une espèce moyennement rare au mont Saint-Hilaire.
CARACTÉRISTIQUES PHYSIQUES:
Couleur – blanc.
Éclat – vitreux.
Transparence – transparent à translucide.
Système cristallin – monoclinique,
Morphologie – sphères ternes et cristaux tabulaires minces.
Clivage – {010} parfait, {100} distinct et {101} indistinct.
Cassure – conchoïdale.
Dureté – 5½ – 6.
Densité – élevée, 2,8 g/cm
Trait – blanc.
Associations minérales – analcime, calcite, dawsonite, dolomite, quartz, rutile et sidérite.
Autres propriétés – aucunes.
Étymologie – nommée en 1888 pour refléter son contenu en béryllium.
