Sazykinaite-(Y)

     Sazykinaite-(Y), formerly UK # 88, is a rare species at MSH.

PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS:

Color is usually yellow.
Luster is vitreous.
Diaphaneity is transparent.
Crystal System is hexagonal, R32.
Crystal Habits include irregular grains, rhombs and short prismatic
   crystals.
Cleavage {01-12} is imperfect.
Fracture is "steplike".
Hardness is 5.
Specific Gravity is approximately 2.67 g/cm3.
Streak is white.
Associated Minerals include halite, sazhinite, tugtupite, ussingite,
   zakharovite and UK #53.
Distinguishing Features: Crystal habit.
Origin: Named in 1993 after Lyudmila B. Sazykina (b.1934),
   Russian mineralogist.
