     La shortite est une autre espèce très rare au mont Saint-Hilaire.

CARACTÉRISTIQUES PHYSIQUES:

Couleur - jaune pâle à jaune citron.
Éclat - vitreux.
Transparence - transparent.
Système cristallin - orthorhombique, C2mm.
Morphologie - cristaux prismatiques courts et masses cristallines.
Clivage - {010} distinct.
Cassure - conchoïdale.
Dureté - 3.
Densité - 2,6 g/cm³.
Trait - blanc.
Associations minérales - calcite, fluorite, pectolite et thénardite.
Autres propriétés - aucunes.
Étymologie - nommée en 1940, d'après Maxwell Naylor Short (1889-1952), professeur Américain de minéralogie.
