     La neptunite est une autre espèce rare au mont Saint-Hilaire.

Couleur - rouge foncé à noir.
Éclat - vitreux.
Transparence - transparent à opaque.
Système cristallin - monoclinique, Cc.
Morphologie - granules incluses dans les cristaux de mangan-neptunite crystals.
Clivage - {110} parfait.
Cassure - conchoïdale.
Dureté - 5 - 6.
Densité - 3,2 g/cm³.
Trait - blanc.
Associations minérales - mangan-neptunite.
Autres propriétés - aucunes.
Étymologie - nommée en 1893, d'après Neptune, dieu romain de la mer, à cause de sa découverte avec l'aégirine, nommée pour Aegir, dieu scandinave de la mer.
