Color is usually brilliant yellow.
Luster is resinous to greasy.
Diaphaneity is translucent to opaque.
Crystal System is orthorhombic, Fddd.
Crystal Habits include (??).
Cleavage {001}, {110} and {111} are imperfect.
Fracture is conchoidal to uneven.
Hardness is 1.5 - 2.5
Specific Gravity is approximately 2.1 g/cm3.
Streak is white.
Associated Minerals include lepidocrocite.
Distinguishing Features: Color.
Origin: Known from Antiquity and named from the Latin sulphurum, sulfur.
