Lalondeite (Type Locality)
Na,Ca)6(Ca,Na)3Si16O38(F,OH)2 · 3H2O

     Lalondeite is yet another addition for Mont Saint-Hilaire, more data will be available upon publication of the description. This species was formerly known as UK#-57 and IMA 2002-026.

PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS:

Color is colourless to white.
Luster is vitreous to peraly.
Diaphaneity is transparent.
Crystal System is triclinic, P1.
Crystal Habits include thin, rounded, micaceous, subhedral plates
   measuring up to 3mm in length.
Cleavage (??).
Fracture is (??).
Hardness is ~ (??).
Specific Gravity is ~ (??) g/cm3.
Streak is (??).
Associated Minerals include clinoamphibole, microcline and
   narsarsukite.
Distinguishing Features: (??).
Origin: Named in 2004 in honor of André Edmond Lalonde (b. 1955),
   Professor of Mineralogy, University of Ottawa. In recognition for his work
   on the mineralogy of micas and the petrology of alkaline intrusions.
