Ferroeckermannite, a member of the amphiboles group, was recently identified at mont Saint-Hilaire.
PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS:
Color is usually greenish blue.
Luster is vitreous to silky.
Diaphaneity is translucent to opaque.
Crystal System is monoclinic, C2/m.
Crystal Habits include platy and prismatic crystals, spherical aggregates.
Cleavage {110} is perfect with parting on {010}.
Fracture is uneven.
Hardness is 5 - 6.
Specific Gravity is approximately 3,25 g/cm3.
Streak is light ot dark blueish grey.
Associated Minerals include (??).
Distinguishing Features: (??).
Origin: Named in 1964 for its ferrous content and its relationship
with eckermannite.
