Carbocernaite
(Ca,Na)(Sr,Ce)(CO3)2

     Carbocernaite is relatively rare at MSH.

PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS:

Color is usually yellow.
Luster is vitreous, greasy on fracture surfaces.
Diaphaneity is translucent to opaque.
Crystal System is orthorhombic; Pmc2.
Crystal Habits include small irregular grains.
Cleavage {100}, {021} and {010} are poor.
Fracture is (??).
Hardness is 3.
Specific Gravity is approximately 3.5 g/cm3.
Streak is white.
Associated Minerals include albite, burbankite, donnayite, parisite,
   pyrophanite, synchysite and titanite.
Distinguishing Features: Crystal habit and color.
Origin: Named in 1961 to reflect its composition: a carbonate containing
   cerium and sodium (Latin natrium).
